Exteriors

As with our interior service, we take great care to properly prepare the exterior of your home before painting. This process includes:

  • Pressure washing
  • Scraping loose and flaking paint
  • Stripping paint when needed
  • Sanding
  • Priming
  • Caulking
If your home was built before 1978, we treat it as though it contains lead-based paint. We're fully certified to work with lead, and employ all recommended techniques to safely remove lead from the surface and job site.

We always suggest fully priming an exterior with a primer tinted toward the finish coat. Exterior primers help paint adhere better to outside walls, and can significantly increase the lifespan of a paint job (up to twice as long when compared to a house with a spot prime and two coats of finish paint). We generally spray on the primer and then work it into the surface with a brush and roller (a must for older homes).

The final step is to apply the finish coat by spray until we achieve a nice, consistent color. Occasionally, a second finish coat is required for full color coverage, usually when making drastic color changes. Once we've finished painting the body of the house, we brush and roll accent colors onto any wood windows, doors, and other trim areas. These areas typically receive one full coat of primer and two finish coats

After each step, we carefully inspect the results to ensure that all phases went according to plan and that no further work is necessary. If a customer notices anything about the paint job that doesn't satisfy our pre-arranged agreement, we'll immediately fix it at no cost. The customer's satisfaction is our number-one concern.
